June taste test

Je tente une nouvelle rubrique par ici, à voir jusqu’où ça durera mais j’ai envie d’essayer, parce que j’adore parler de bouffe mais que j’arrive pas à l’intégrer correctement et que je vais pas faire un article à chaque fois non plus. Ce sera peut-être pas très intéressante mais restez avec moi le temps que me mette à la page. Si vous avez des suggestions bien entendu, je suis tout ouïe.

I’m trying out a new corner over there, let’s see how long it’ll last but I want to try because I love talking about food but haven’t managed to integrate it properly in my posts so far, I don’t want  to make a dedicated post everytime either so it had been a bit complicated. Maybe it won’t be that interested but try to bear with me while I try things out. If you have any idea for me, obviously, I’m ready to hear you out.

 

Les huîtres // Oysters

Vous allez trouver ça bizarre mais j’avais jamais mangé d’huîtres avant ce mois-ci, mais c’était jusqu’au moment où, à la recherche d’un restaurant on est tombés sur un restaurant spécialisé dedans. Les huîtres au Japon ça a quelques avantages, c’est moins cher qu’en France, c’est cuisiné de manière plus variée (frites, en sauce à l’ail et au pesto, dans des pâtes, entre autres).
Bref résultat des courses j’ai adoré et je retente l’expérience dès que possible.

You’re going to find this a bit strange but I have never tasted oysters before this month, and it wasn’t until when, looking for a restaurant, we accidentally found a restaurant only serving oysters. Oysters in Japan have some advantages, it’s less expensive than overseas and it’s cooked in more ways (like fried, with sauce with garlic and pesto, in pasta, and so on).
Anyway, result of the experience, I loved it and I’m ready to go back for more anytime.

La collection Saint Valentin de Godiva // Valentine chocolate collection from Godiva

Godiva est une marque de chocolat belge super populaire au Japon, à chaque fois qu’on va dans un outlet on repart systématiquement avec des boîtes à -70%, on arrive du coup à un prix européen et ça fait tout de suite plus plaisir au porte-monnaie. Bref, les collections soldées de ce coup-ci étaient les collections fruitées spéciales Saint-Valentin et White Day. C’est du chocolat, j’adore le chocolat, forcément une expérience à retentée.

Godiva actually comes from Belgium but it’s super popular in Japan, every time we go to an outlet somewhere we always buy at least a box, this time it was a -70% which makes the price more than OK in my books and a happy wallet makes me happy. Anyway, the collections on sale this time were the fruity tastes only sold for Valentine and White day.
It’s chocolate, I love chocolate, obviously I’ll go back for more when I have the chance.

 

Du thé Fauchon // Fauchon tea

Je reste dans les trucs européens, va falloir que je me calme, mais il y avait aussi une boutique Fauchon dans l’outlet dont on a parlé ci-dessus et quand j’ai senti le thé à l’abricot mon porte-monnaie a bougé tout seul. J’ai du mal à justifier de mettre autant dans une boîte de thé mais le résultat est à la hauteur du prix et c’était pas si cher que ça, disons que j’ai vu pire, merci les outlets.
Encore à refaire, sauvez moi, être au Japon me rend tea addict. Ma collection se compose maintenant de 5 thés en vrac et des sachets en tout genre piqués dans les hôtels quand on voyage.

I’m still talking about european stuff, I kinda need to calm down, but there also was a Fauchon store in the outlet I mentionned before and when I smelled this apricot tea my wallet moevd on its own. I still can’t really justify putting that much money in a single tea box but the result is there. And all things considered it wasn’t that expensive, thank god for outlets (even if nice bags I might want are still way out of my league.)
Another thing to buy again. Someone save me, being in Japan is making me into a tea addict, my collection now includes 5 teas in boxes and a lot of individual packages “stolen” in hotels when we travel.

 

Des éditions limitées Haagen Dasz/Haagen Dasz Limited editions

Je sais pas si vous connaissez l’obsession des Japonais pour la glace Haagen Dasz mais c’est assez effrayant, bref, comme on est au Japon on a pas droit seulement aux parfums habituels mais également à des édition limitées. Les Japonais adoooorent les éditions limitées. Bref, au programme ce mois-ci, lait/miel et banane/fraise. Le miel dans la première est du vrai miel et ça va vraiment super bien avec la glace au lait que, de base, j’adore. Quant à la banane/fraise j’étais sceptique mais aujourd’hui je n’ai qu’un regret, que ce ne soit pas un parfum permanent.

I don’t know if you’re aware of Japanese people’s obsession for Haagen Dasz ice cream but it’s a bit scary, and, since we’re in Japan, we don’t always get to eat the normal flavors but also limited editions. Japanese people love limited editions even more than they love ice cream. Anyway, for this month the taste test includes milk/honey and strawberry/banana flavors. The honey in the first one is real honey and it goes really well with the milk ice cream which I have been addicted to since forever. As for the banana/strawberry, I was intitially a bit weirded out by the idea but now I have only one regret, that this isn’t a permanent flavor.
